When we moved to Kentucky last year a member of our church here (an adult twin) told us about an annual Twins Festival held in Twinsburg, OH every August. Since it is only a few hours from us we decided to take the boys and check it out.
We stopped midway to let the boys stretch their legs and to get some food. There was a pet store nearby so we thought we'd let the boys look around. I was really surprised to find that pet stores these days have very few pets in them anymore. Well, really, they just don't have any dogs. Not a single one. They have the typical birds, fish, and rodents, but no dogs. Luckily for us they had a few cats and Gavin loves cats. Well really he likes to pretend to be a cat (which is hilarious by the way), but either way he was fascinated with the cats at the pet store.

We made it to Twinsburg alive and well just shy of a meltdown and tried to check into our hotel. Well of all lovely things we were a few minutes early and they were many minutes late having our room ready. So got to hang out in the lobby for about an hour. Trying to entertain two toddlers in a hotel lobby for an hour is not an experience I wish to repeat.

After eating we headed back to our hotel where the boys' hung out on our bed and watched their absolute favorite "Shaun the Sheep"

The first night in the hotel was a rough one. Drew doesn't do great with new places. So in addition to a late bed time he woke up in the night and wouldn't go back to sleep for a couple hours (so fun!). We were all a wee bit tired and cranky in the morning. But we headed out to participate in the Twins parade. Every year the festival has a theme and this year it was super heroes so I made the boys some super hero capes.

By the end of the parade this is how they looked.
They looked so grumpy that we didn't get too many comments from people on how cute they were. About 2 minutes after we finished the parade and they looked like this.
And boy oh boy did we get all kinds of comments on how adorable they were once they were asleep. People stopped us to take their pictures, especially when they were sleeping in the exact same position (like in this picture).
I might be biased, but they do look pretty darn adorable when they sleep.
After the parade we headed to back to our hotel, went for a swim and grabbed some lunch before heading back to the festival. They had several tents set up with different entertainment going on (magician, juggler, twin talent show) and lots of fair type food. It was stinkin' hot, but we had fun. We took part in the group picture which should be coming in the mail soon!

The drive back was good and the boys' did awesome. My back was bit stiff after sitting for so long (I feel like an old lady!) so I laid down on the floor to stretch it out. Gav decided he was in need of a snuggle after being in his car seat for so long, so he made himself comfortable.
Overall, we had a good time. It was fun to get to celebrate their twin-ness with so many other twins/multiples! We plan on making a tradition of it and taking the boys as often as we can manage it.
