Perserverance

I walk past this apartment complex everyday and the sight pictured above never fails to crack me up. Clearly there was a flower bed in this spot at one time that was then turned into grass. However, these plucky little daffodils just won't let them forget what once was there. HAHA!

Happy Graduation!

So I did it. I dressed up in my oversized graduation cap and wrinkly gown and walked across the stage--I'm done! Most of my family wasn't able to make it to see me in all my glory, but they all called me and wished me well which I really appreciate. Sarah was able to make it and we had a lot of fun with her family. Oh and Chris did rouse himself (or rather Mom did with a phone call) to be there and of course Mom was there too which was great. I was so glad they were all there!

So like I said before my graduation cap was too big. I think they made a mistake in giving me a large cap--oops! I tried bobby pinning it, but I didn't have any black bobby pins so they showed up really bad. Next best thing--double sided tape! Stuck a little to my forehead and it did the trick, plus it makes for better pictures than bobby pins. haha!

Multifunctionality

So now that I have my new camera I'm going a little crazy with the photo taking! But really I've wanted to blog about some stuff, but couldn't without a little help from a photo. So here is the story behind this picture.
I've been wanting to change up my room a bit and there were these terrible drab curtains in my room. So off we went to the fabric store to find fabric to make curtains and a duvet cover, but alas I couldn't find anything that really suited me. So my brilliant mother suggested we stop off at Ross and look at sheets that we could turn into curtains and a duvet. So the curtains you see pictured here were originally a queen size flat sheet. This will definitely be going on my 'wife resume', because really who wouldn't want to marry someone who can transform a sheet into curtains? HAHAHA! Someday when I get the duvet done I'll post some pictures so you can see how the whole ensemble came together.

Thanksgiving Point Gardens

So my camera bit the dust a couple of months ago, but I bit the bullet and purchased a new point and shoot so I could have some pictures of my upcoming graduation. So my new camera came in the mail today! And today also happened to be the day me and my mom went to scope out the tulip festival at Thanksgiving Point. I was a little under impressed with the tulips, but that's not entirely T.P.'s fault--the weather has not been condusive to flowers this year and they were all struggling a bit. It was nice to get some sun today and walk around and snap a few photos in celebration of the end of another semester.

Baitin' the hook

So about a week ago I attended a mentored learning conference. Pretty much this just consisted of me standing next to a gigantic poster I had put together with a girl from my class. So the morning of I woke up and decided to get gussied up a bit for the auspicious occasion. I put on a new dress and did my hair (which incidentally turned out much more 'barbie'-esque that I intended). My mom walked in my room and said 'whoa, baitin' the hook?' Which I just laughed off, but really should have clued me in to what the day might hold. But I just headed off to school laughing to myself. Then on my way to school I had this experience:

I approached one of the busier roads I have to cross on my way to school. I stopped and looked both ways like my momma taught me and there was a pick up truck, you might say 'barreling', down the road towards me. Whoever was driving it seemed to be in a bit of hurry so I thought to myself "It's really not worth my life to step in front of this oncoming vehicle" As the pick-up got closer it started slowing down and then the driver flashed his lights at me indicating I can go ahead and cross. I'm thinking to myself "a little odd this person decided to stop, but whatever." As I cross in front of the vehicle the driver rolls down his window and says... "thank you!"

I just sort of turn around to look at him, as I am not accustomed to people speaking to me from their vehicles as I cross the street. He is just sitting in his truck with this big old grin on his face and repeats "thanks!". I sort of give him a half smile and continue on my way to my conference in my new dress and overly 'barbie'-esque hair, laughing really hard to myself.

Guess Mom was right...and I'm still not really sure what he was thanking me for...haha!

To Purdue or Purdon't...that is the question

So it's official! I just officially accepted Purdue's offer and I'm heading to Indiana in August. Yikes! It's funny I was hoping that it would really come down to just one decision and it did. There wasn't really anything I didn't like about Purdue and there was plenty to like (i.e. money to pay for school--yesssss!) and none of the other schools I applied to panned out at all.

Now I just have to pass all my classes this semester...
