So it's been a while since I blogged consistently and, well, I miss it. I feel like my natural inclination at the end of the day is to focus on the daily stressors of life rather than the peaks (wah, wahhh!). I feel like blogging the highlights helps keep them fresher in mind which for me personally is a very good thing and very much needed.
In early April we took advantage of a rare warm day (this winter has been the pits!) and headed out for a family hike. Our last attempt at hiking with the kids was not a rousing success, but this time the boys did so great! I was seriously one proud mama.
{At the beginning: Andrew on Dad's shoulder's Gavin hugging his leg}
{Things were still pretty bare, but it was so nice to be outside!}
{Taking a rest :)}
We ended up reading the map wrong and going in the complete opposite direction we'd planned to go (whoops!). While it was a little bit of a tougher hike it was much more scenic!
Oh and as it turns out we don't own a backpack anymore except for Gavin's small outer space "pack-pack." It actually ended up being a great size even if I felt slightly silly wearing it :)
As you can see the boys were having a great time :) Really it is just next to impossible to catch them both smiling in a picture.
But individually they do just fine!

The boys did so great on our accidentally extra long hike. We hike in total about 2 miles. It took us two hours (yikes!) but they walked the whole way all by themselves (rock stars!!). Of course by the end they were totally exhausted and fell asleep on the ride home :)
We are really excited to get out and do more stuff like this as a family now that our boys are old enough to actually enjoy it. Though we did find that Gavin has developed a fear of bugs since last Fall when he thought they were interesting/cool. Now they are so "scawy!" That is probably a good indicator of how much time we've had to spend inside this winter (yuck!). We're excited to go back and do this hike again this summer when as the trees have leaves!
