Recent Events

So I recently took a little road trip to the great state of Idaho (I must have a thing for 'I' states!). As I was driving I was getting a little bored on this fairly deserted highway so I decided to snap a few pictures of the scenery (yes, while I was driving--I guess I'm just multi-talented like that--haha!) :

The third picture is of this crazy dust cloud off the side of the road--it was huge! Oh and don't worry no one was injured in the taking of these pictures:)

Also, on my way back I stopped to get gas and the gas station had these fun cowboy hats. I just had to get one so I can take a little of the West with me to Indiana. Yeehaw!

Chances are I'll always be an Idaho girl at heart:)

Home Sweet Home

I have a place to live! Hurray! I just signed a lease for a one bedroom apartment a few miles from campus. AND it has a washer/dryer in it! Yeeeesssss! While it is a little scary to commit (having only seen like one picture on the internet), I'm glad to have a place to live.

Learning new things

So I just figured out how to put a dandy little slideshow on my blog!
As per requested a few more pics from the photo shoot:

and lest you think me vain after viewing those, check these out instead (and believe you me, there are plenty more just like 'em!)

Which do you like best?

So I had a fun photo shoot when I went to see my sister in Denver. Nothing high tech (neither one of us has a fancy camera though we are both hoping to get one someday) of course, but we had a good time doing it. Afterwards, she showed me this free photo editing program called Gimp and so I decided to download it and mess around a bit with it. I had a little fun with one of the pictures we took and I find the difference quite startling---computers are so cool. Now that I am expanding my photo-editing skills I just need a better camera and my life will be pretty much complete--well at least photographically speaking:)

Lars and the Real Girl

Lars and the Real Girl (2007)

This movie is about a young man named Lars who falls in love with a life size doll. Sounds a bit kinky I know, but it is really a story about pain and healing and how our feelings find a way of surfacing no matter how hard we try to push them away. I think any of you who have experienced deep loss will be able to relate to Lars and his struggle. It is truly a beautiful story about love and friendship and real life awkwardness and humanness. I'll admit the story line is a bit unusual and at any minute you expect it to really go awry, but it never does. I loved it! (Thanks Rachel for the recommendation!) It also stars one of my favorite actresses that is still living (since most of my favorites were in their prime in the 50's) Emily Mortimer (she also stars in Dear Frankie and The Kid).

It's the little joys

Does life get any cooler than having a dilated eye exam? I submit that it does not!
