Our big guys

I cannot believe how big my little guys are getting! Seriously, looking at these pictures it is clear we are well past the baby days and headed full speed towards little boy-hood. I'm trying to be better about taking pictures of these two, even if they aren't the greatest quality.

{Say what?}

{Happy Drew}

{Voluntarily showing off his belly. This was all his idea. Too Funny!}

{The Gavinator!}

{Always has silly face to share!}

{Handsome boys!}

Can you believe they are almost 2?! I sure can't. They are really starting to talk a lot (especially Drew) and it is pretty much the best. It is so funny to hear some of the things they say and hear things that we say coming out of their mouths. For example. every time Gavin gets up on a chair he says "dit dow!" (sit down) and points his finger down. He hears that a lot from us :) I must say he does a pretty good impression of me. Stink eye and everything. I love these little bugs!

Our very own sandy beach

As the weather turns cooler here and the warm days are increasingly few we decided to bring a little beach to our backyard

SAND!

We swapped out the water in the sand and water table for sand (we never do both at the same time as we hear it gets really messy). As with most things here the boys loved it for a few days and have since gotten a bit bored with it (ideas for spicing up sand play anyone?)

I managed to snap a few pictures of their more enthusiastic sand days.

{Building and destroying castles with Dad}

{Flinging sand out of the table. Definitely a favorite activity}

Gavin covers his eyes and/or mouth when he cries. It is the funniest thing!

Andrew went through a phase where he liked mushing things into his hair, usually food. But apparently curious about sand he tried that as well.

And smooshed it around a bit for good measure.

I love Fall and that we can still play out side with sand when its too cold for water. I am, however, not really looking forward to having two 2 year olds cooped up inside all winter. Let's hope Fall sticks around for a little while!

playing in boxes

We recently got some new fabric boxes to get a better handle on the toy situation in the living room. The boy's made short order of welcoming them into their toy collection by promptly dumping out all the toys and making themselves at home.

Gavin refused to get out of his basket.

These two will definitely test the durability of these new baskets.

The baskets are part of living room makeover I've been doing. It sort of come to a stand still at this point, but I should take pictures of the progress. I really like it!

A day at the lake

So all the way back in August (sheesh!) we took the boys to our annual church summer social at a local lake. I didn't get any pictures of them in the water, because well we had our hands full keeping their heads above water which clearly took priority.

They loved the water! Our courageous Gavin was delighted that the water was shallow enough (in parts) for him to walk by himself. So of course he'd walk all the way out until the waves were lapping right under his neck and still  refuse to let you lend a hand. I was super impressed and kind of nervous of this most recent development. Definitely won't be taking these two swimming by myself any time in the near future.

{Enjoying some milk with lake in the background}

{Gavin and Daddy}

{Drew and Dad. Drew doesn't like to be slowed down by photo ops!}

As we were leaving we happened upon some kids playing with the water fountain much to our boys' delight!

We wrapped the day up with some popcorn in our pjs (yes there are snowman on their pjs, yes it is august in this picture!). Drew and Gavin both LOVE popcorn and fight over who gets to hold the bowl.

We had so much fun and can't wait for next year!
